Implants
Today's dental implants are changing the way people live! With implants, people are rediscovering the comfort and confidence to smile, eat, speak, laugh and enjoy life. Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel and function like natural teeth. A person with implants regains the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours have been preserved. Implants consist of small titanium posts which are placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. In addition to restoring a natural appearance in the mouth, implants can help preserve facial structure, preventing bone deterioration, which typically occurs when teeth are missing.
Non-Metal Fillings
If your teeth are filled with dark metal amalgam fillings, your smile is aging your appearance. Your discolored teeth may also cause embarrassment. Of the most concern, however, is the fact that metal fillings can also damage teeth. Amalgams expand with heat and contract with cold. This movement weakens the tooth wall, leading to fractures and allowing bacteria to enter and cause decay. Amalgam fillings contain mercury that may have negative long-term health effects. Tooth-colored composite fillings are a safer, stronger, more attractive and more enduring alternative to metal. They conservatively restore your teeth to strength and your smile to beauty.
Bridges
Missing teeth can cause more than embarrassment. They can lead to gum disease, bite problems, bone loss, speech difficulties and can keep you from eating the foods you love. A dental bridge will not only restore your smile to a natural appearance, but it will also return it to comfort and function. A bridge is a custom-fit false tooth (or teeth). The bridge is permanently placed between two healthy teeth and is held in place by porcelain crowns.
Bonding
So you want to enhance your smile, but you have concerns about procedures and cost. Cosmetic bonding is the perfect solution! Affordable and conservative, bonding can be used for a variety of enhancements, including whitening stain-resistant teeth (including tetracycline stains), repairing chips and closing gaps between teeth. The procedure is simple: a composite material is placed on the tooth, then shaped to the desired result. Finally, the material is hardened and polished, creating a natural appearance.
Inlays and Onlays
Dr. Hughes cares about your health and offers only metal-free dentistry with beautiful and healthy porcelain inlays and onlays. Dr. Hughes uses inlays and onlays in place of traditional metal fillings that can shift or crack, leaving you vulnerable to bacteria and further decay. Inlays and Onlays are a more conservative treatment because less tooth material is removed. Unlike fillings, these procedures strengthen a tooth's structure and leave your smile whiter and healthier than ever before.
Endodontics
With today's modern dental techniques, having root canals done by a dentist is no longer a scary experience. Dr. Hughes is experienced in performing root canal therapy. Extensive decay, an accident, tooth fracture, or gum disease can kill teeth and cause a root canal symptom such as root canal pain or a dental abscess. However, regardless of the root canal cause, your teeth can be saved using modern therapy to do root canal treatment.
