We had a BLAST collecting food donations for the Community Food Share food drive!  It was a beautiful day, and we were constantly in awe at the generosity of the fabulous people of Louisville and their donations!  We were able to accumulate hundreds of pounds of food. 

It doesn’t always occur to us that some people may be hungry, they might not have that bag of chips to reach for, or milk to pour over their cereal.  We were honored to be able to help and look forward to doing it again soon!

When our patient Christine called Kim regarding donations for her daughters brownie troop, Kim immediately came to me and we both thought of things we could donate.

Every year, Brownie Troop #537 tries to make Christmastime brighter for members of their community.  How exciting it was that Boulder Valley Dental Center was asked to help! With Kims help, we were able to donate 30-50 tubes of toothpaste and 30-50 floss samples.

Time to make some chili!

1 lb cubed corn-fed (Go Huskers!) sirloin

1 medium yellow onion, chopped

1 can pinto beans

1 can kidney beans

1 can diced fire roasted tomatoes (drained)

1/4 c chili powder

2 t cumin

2 t crushed red pepper

1 t cayenne pepper

1t garlic salt

1 t onion salt

1-2 T flour

2-4 cups water (depending on consistency you prefer)

Salt and pepper to taste

Brown sirloin and add seasonings.  Add flour to coat beef.  Add water and tomatoes,  simmer for 25 minutes.  During the last 5 minutes of cooking, add beans with liquid.  Serve in breadbowls or with tortilla chips or crackers.  Garnish with sour cream and shredded cheese.YUM!!! GO BIG RED!!!!!

My husband, Bill, and I are blessed with two bright children.  Our son, Ben, is 6 and goes to Kindergarten at Eldorado K-8 school in Superior.  He is a spirited, active and very smart little boy who enjoys Karate at the IMA dojo right here in Louisville, playing baseball on the Rangers team, and swimming.  At home he loves to play legos, build cars and transform his transformers.  His favorite food is Outback Steakhouse Steak and when he grows up, he wants to be an astronaut! (or a monster truck driver)

Cami is our 4, soon to be 5 year old little princess.  She attends full time preschool at Bright Horizons here in Louisville.  She loves playing princess dress up, playing with her dolls, singing and dancing.  She is excited to start Kindergarten this coming fall at Eldorado K-8 in Superior.  Cami’s favorite food is veggies (she LOVES broccoli) and when she grows up, she want’s to be a Princess!  She has quite the imagination

I strive very hard to establish balance between my practice, family, health, sprituality and social life.  For this reason, the entire team at Boulder Valley Dental appreciate all our patients understanding for our spending time at home with our families on Fridays and weekends!  Your relationships to our practice are greatly valued.  Thank you!

I want to thank you for my positive experience during my recent visit(s) to your office.  You and your staff were professional and exceptional in every way.  You are building a one of a kind dental practice solidly based in client comfort and a happy staff.  As you know, I have not been a fan of regular dental visits.  You have changed my mind, and I look forward to returning for regular cleanings and when other dental needs arise.

Monday morning we arrived at the office, looking forward to the week

Dr. Hughes said she had a surprise for all of us. Kim heard Kathy and I cheering and wondered what the commotion was. Little did she know that Kathy and I were already downloading books to our AMAZON KINDLE 2’s!! That’s right, our favorite Dr. Tracey purchased Amazon Kindle 2’s for all of her employees!

Thanks Dr. Hughes! This will certainly motivate us to learn more, read more, and become better employees, patient advocates, and just plain happy human beings!!
