There are many types and brands of electric toothbrushes in the marketplace these days…who hasn’t stood in front of the oral home care aisle at Wal-Mart wondering “Which is the best for me?”. Well, I can sure relate to that!
Based on presonal experience, research and patient observations/feedback, I would recommend a Sonicare electric toothbrush.
The advantages of Sonicare toothbrushes are the following:
- Brush heads are interchangeable (remember…brush heads need to be replaced every 3-4 months!)
- Research shows it cleans slightly in between the teeth to help where you may not get with a manual toothbrush
- In one week of use it can whiten teeth up to two times more than a manual toothbrush
- The brush does the work for you, no circle motion or up and down
- The sonic technology is the same in the $20 version or the $180 version, the differenc in the price range is due to how many bells and whistles you desire. For example do you want to replace the batteries or be able to plug in and recharge your toothbrush while you are away.
- The Sonicare has a 2 minute timer that vibrates every 30 seconds for “quadrant” brushing (be sure you brush all areas of mouth equally!)
